The HOKUYO UXM-30LAH-EWA scanning laser rangefinder is an industrial-grade outdoor-rated sensor used for non-contact distance measurement, obstacle detection and area monitoring applications. Using an Ethernet interface for communication and programming the output zones, this model offers real-time detection in a 190° field of view up to a distance of 80 meters. The sensor is equipped with a built-in heater for making internal adjustments once temperatures drop below 0° C. It also can be configured with an ON/OFF delay where it will ignore objects that move abruptly through the zones (for example in outdoor use: leaves blowing, heavy dust or debris) thus preventing a false output. Sensitivity adjustments can be made via the software to create a close-range dead zone that helps filter out rain, sea mist, snow, fog or other elements that are in close proximity to the lens.
The UXM-30LAH series accurately detects objects when they move into and out of pre-configured zones. Typically these outputs are used for "Warning", "Slowdown" and "Stop".
The main specifications are: supply voltage 10-30 V, measurement distance 30 m, field view 190°, angular resolution 0.125, interface Ethernet and field setting available.

Applications
Collision prevention: Area monitoring for collision prevention of RTGs, RMGs and AGVs.
Container positioning: Possible to pick up containers precisely based on distance and angle measurements obtained from the sensor.
Terrain measurement: Terrain measurement and analysis using distance data obtained for maintenance of roads, bridges and cultural properties.
Vehicle detection: Vehicle detection on roads or within a factory as a safety measure. Also, possible to detect traffic congestion or speed of vehicles.
