Move to TechBase
Our new address in Regensburg is located in a selected urban commercial area.
The TechCampus Regensburg has a clear profile: High Tech. Regensburg climb to a leading business location in Germany is closely linked to its consistent orientation of the economy on innovative future technologies and the production of very high-quality goods. Thematic clusters, networking and cooperation between business and science play key role. In addition to the brand new TechBase, Regensburg Innovation and Technology Center, the Techcampus offers unique settlement optons for innovative high-tech companies.
Manu Systems AG moves on July 01st, 2016 into the new innovation center TechBase.
The TechBase provides space for research and technology. The focus of TechBase is on information technology, mechanical engineering, sensor technology, power engineering and optics. Close to local universities a network of technology-orientated companies and research institutions develop, which will strenghten the role of Regensburg as a top technology site further.
The TechBase is cofinanced by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
In the TechBase there are several technology clusters: IT security, IT logistics and electromobility.
Manu Systems AG will be inspired by the new location in their own research and development, in co-operation with local universities and technology clusters. The new location is an ideal base for orientation of the company towards development and production of vehicles such as robot platforms and automated guided vehicles. The company also operates as internet retail shop for sensors such as laserscanners and ultrasonic sensors and in international trade of industrial cameras. It further provides service in business information and communication. In this respect, the focus of the TechBase is ideal for the company.

Grant to the advisory costs to build up a quality management system
After submission of a proposal the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control awarded a grant to the advisory costs according to the guidelines on the promotion of entrepreneurial know-how for small and medium-sized enterprises and the liberal professions.
This supports the advising of Manu Systems AG to build a quality management system.

Signature of a patent transfer and exploitation contract
The Manu Systems AG from Regensburg and the crowd IP Box UG from Munich have signed a patent transfer and exploitation contract on September 8, 2015. The Manu Systems AG as patentee undertook to transfer all rights based on five inventions made in the EU research project PV-Servitor with a project volume of EUR 1.4 million to crowd IP box as patent exploiter.

Failure of the second capital increase
The second capital inrease, which was decided at the shareholder meeting of Manu Systems AG on November 18, 2014 failed. It was decided, among other things: "The share capital of currently EUR 75,000, will be increased by up to EUR 37,500, up to EUR 112,500, by issuing up to 37,500 new name registered shares against cash contributions at an issue price of EUR 16 per share.
Causes of failure was lack of interest of shareholders and third parties at the selected time and price. Many shareholders welcomed a change of divident policy towards future dividents, however, they were already fully invested. One reason for the failure was, among others, also the week-long strike at Deutsche Post, which resulted in delayed or late delivery of drawing documents.
Several actions performed in the try for the second capital increase such as further developed corporate planning, new calculations of profitability and a number of measures in the second half of 2015 immediately after the failure of the capital had a direct positive impact on the results for the full year.

Patent applications for 2 Patents from FP7 research project PV-Servitor have been transferred to Manu Systems AG by the European Patent Office.
The first transfer is concerns the patent application for a "Service device for cleaning and maintenance of a solar panel arrangement". This invention was made at the Mechatronics Research Unit of the Hochschule Regensburg. More information...

In the process of further transformation to a technology company MANU SYSTEMS submits on November 15th, 2012 the proposal PV-Servitor DEMO to the European Commission. The PV-Servitor DEMO project proposes to demonstrate the industrial scale realisation and operation of a service robot for ground mounted large scale photovoltaic power plants.
The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) bundles all research-related EU initiatives together under a common roof playing a crucial role in reaching the goals of growth, competitiveness and employment.

Manu Systems AG To Resell Segway Inc.'s Robotics Mobility Platforms (RMPs) in Europe
Segway Inc. recently brought on Manu Systems AG, located in Regensburg Germany, as a European reseller of its Robotics Mobility Platforms (RMPs). Manu Systems AG is well known as one the region's leading value-added resellers of robotic hand systems, humanoid robots and other robotics mobility systems.

GraspIt! now features the Shadow Dextrous Hand.
Dr. Andrew Miller and Prof. Peter Allen from the Department of Computer Science at Columbia University in New York City have created a robotic grasping simulator known as GraspIt! that can accommodate arbitrary hand and robot designs. The user simply specifies the kinematics in a configuration file and provides the link geometry files. It also includes a rapid collision detection and contact determination system that allows a user to interactively manipulate the joints of the hand and create new grasps of a target object. Each grasp is evaluated with numeric quality measures, and visualization methods allow the user to see the weak point of the grasp and create arbitrary 3D projections of the 6D grasp wrench space.
The Shadow Dextrous Hand is the first commercially available hand with five fingers supported by GraspIt!.

Humanoid robots will assist in human space exploration. Robonaut for example could be an emergency system outside the International Space Station, where it could be actived almost immidiately. Astronauts need several hours to prepare for EVA. Robonaut has a humanoid hand and therefore the advantage to be able to use the same tools already developed for humans in space. He will be teleoperated from a fixed control center on earth or a command module inside the space station. The operator uses virtual reality to experience the world of the robot, controlling the head by a cyberhelmet and the hand through a cyberglove. The anthropomorphic design of robots, especially the design of hands with five articulated fingers, can be inspired by purchasing advanced robotic hands. Therefore the Robonaut project at the NASA Johnson Space Center decided to procure a Shadow Dextrous Hand. The first delivery and installation of a Shadow Dextrous Hand in the UNITED STATES was successfully completed on November 04, 2005 in Houston, Texas.
Humanoid robots will be commercially viable in the repair of satellites in orbit. This type of mission is more cost effective and less risky than service by an astronaut. A rocket launch is an enormous strain for a satellite and can easily lead to a mission failure: for example failure of the power supply. Also the quantity of 'space junk' in orbit increases and endangers other satellites. New satellites can be designed for repair either by astronouts or humanoid robots. Hubble has already been designed to be upgraded and repaired by astronauts or robots.

The first delivery ever of a Shadow Dextrous Hand went to the Neuroinformatics Group in Bielefeld, which has been active in the field of Artificial Neural Networks since 1989. The group is led by Professor Helge Ritter, winner of the Leibniz Prize, and pursues research in several areas related to artificial neural networks, neural modeling, adaptive systems, machine learning and neural computation. Furthermore, current research programmes within the group are focused on the improvement of man-machine-interfaces, robot-force-control, eye-tracking experiments, machine vision, virtual reality and distributed systems.
The Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize is the highest honour awarded in German research. The Leibniz Programme, established in 1985, aims to improve the working conditions of outstanding scientists and academics, expand their research opportunities, relieve them of administrative tasks, and help them employ particularly qualified young researchers. The prize for researchers working in experimental, instrumentation-based fields is valued at &euro 1.55 m. Researchers working in more theoretical fields receive &euro 770.000. The prize is awarded from nominations put forward by third parties. The prizewinner is selected by the Grants Committee on General Research Support on the basis of a recommendation from the Nominations Committee for the Leibniz Programme.
