Robotnik

The SUMMIT is a medium-sized robot with high mobility and low cost. It is ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications and can easily overcome obstacles such as steps.

The mechanical system is equivalent to a 4x4 remote control car and uses a high quality aluminium chassis. Each wheel has a drive motor mounted on each axis with an independent damping system and pendulum counterweight on each wheel to further improve it's stability.

The robot base can navigate autonomously or can be teleoperated by using a PTZ camera that transmits video in real time.

To calculate odometry it features an encoder and a high precision angular velocity sensor.

The system comes ready with a mounted Hokuyo laser scanner (please select one from the list below) and a location RTK-DGPS kit. It also has internal (USB; RS232, GPIO and RJ45) and external connectivity (USB and 12VDC) to add custom components.

The control architecture is open-source and modular, based on Player/Stage. This allows the programmming and simulation of offline algorithms and makes it extremely useful tool for teaching and research.
